Session 12: The Metabolic Syndrome in a Golgi Vesicle

This presentation will describe research to understand how glucose uptake is regulated in fat and muscle cells.  Work in this area links diabetes pathophysiology with cell biology, particularly mechanisms to control intracellular protein targeting. Unexpectedly, observations suggested that altered protein targeting may contribute to several distinct aspects of metabolic disease.
