Session 5: RAGE and Implications for Obesity and Metabolic Dysfunction

RAGE is a multi-ligand receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Although originally discovered on account of its ability to bind the advanced glycation end products (AGEs), research has shown that RAGE is a multi-ligand receptor. Here, we present our findings linking RAGE to obesity and the suppression of thermogenesis in brown and browning adipocytes. Implications for therapeutic interventions will also be discussed.
