All tissues comprise heterogeneous cell types that work together to maintain tissue function. The emerging technologies of analyzing single cells in complex tissues provide unprecedented details on cell-cell signaling, metabolism, and disease. I will briefly touch on these new technologies and their applications in metabolic disease research.
