Session 7: Adipose Tissue in Health and Disease

Our lab studies the role of adipose tissue in energy metabolism, insulin sensitivity and disease progression. We have an established collaboration that investigates the role of social isolation in rodents on mammary cancer initiation and progression, including the role of the mammary gland adipose depot. Additionally, we are conducting studies on women undergoing vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery to investigate the impact of the intervention on adipose tissue circadian gene expression and insulin sensitivity.
